Chet Hanks mentioned that he reached a point where he could easily identify his fellow addicts. He often encountered them while clubbing and would try to connect with them.
“You’re like, ‘I know this dude’s a f–king cokehead, but I want a little bump,'” Chet admitted.
Hanks candidly described the severity of his addiction to his drug of choice. “I would go do coke with the cokeheads, and they would be telling me, like, ‘Yo, chill, bro. … Wait a second. Give it like 15 minutes.’ I couldn’t get enough of that sh–t.”

Chet admitted there was a time when his addiction consumed him, controlling every aspect of his life. However, he now acknowledges that it was not only detrimental to his body and heart but also damaging to his soul.
“It’s terrible. It eats away,” Chet explained. “You just, like, wither away ’cause you can’t eat, you can’t sleep.”
Chet’s battle with addiction started at the young age of 16. A year later, Hanks revealed that his renowned parents enrolled him in a wilderness program in Utah. Chet admits that his drug use had to be striking for his famous parents.
“I had been a really good, innocent kid my whole life,” Chet claimed. “And then one day I just make that leap, take that step and it was like, ‘What the f–k.’ Where has my child gone.”
However, Chet Hanks claims the wilderness retreat did him a lot of good. “When you have absolutely nothing to occupy your mind … but dead silence, a week feels like a month,” he recalled.
Although Hanks release and had trouble with addiction through the years, he managed to get clean and sat that way in 2021.
