During the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis opened up to his brother Jason about how, as a “Cleveland kid,” he had to watch the Guardians fall to the Yankees 2-5 while snuggling up with the pop icon and having fun with friends.
“It was mixed feelings because I was there trying to have some fun with Tay and everybody. All our friends [came],” Travis recalled on Wednesday, Oct. 16. “We had [an] unbelievable crew, with us and hanging with us.”
Travis Kelce continued to speak about hanging out with Taylor Swift and some friends at the game. “And, you know, it was, it was fun. Though the [Guardians] couldn’t pull it off, it was still an exciting, exciting game. And it was cool to see Yankee Stadium because I’ve always wanted to see that thing in person in a playoff game, in a hostile environment, and it didn’t disappoint, man. The Yankees, the fans, the players, everybody involved, man.”
To simply summarize the experience, Travis declared, “It was awesome.”
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were noticeably seen at Game 1 of the MLB American League Championship. MLB couldn’t help but post a video of the couple on its account on X (formerly Twitter).
“Nothing like #Postseason night at the ballpark for Tarvis Kelce and Taylor Swift,” the post read.
While sporting color-coordinated outfits, Kelce was seen wearing a “Midnight Rodeo” hat while Taylor wore a simple black hat. The two were seen holding hands and cuddling in their suite seats.
Jason and Travis Kelce Reflect on Growing Up in Cleveland and Being Lifelong Fans of the MLB Team
Along with sharing details about Game 1, Travis Kelce and his brother Jason chatted about growing up in Cleveland and being lifelong fans of the MLB team.
“We just grew up in the ’90s with the Indians,” Jason said. “And we just loved baseball so much because they were so good. How many world series or playoff games did we go to?”
Travis then chimed in, recalling his favorite moments at Progressive Field (aka the Jake). “I went to the All-Star. You went to the World Series. I remember going to just taking the rapid downtown and going to games for, like, a $5, $10 ticket. Or if a friend had an extra ticket for me, we would all just jump on the rapid and go downtown.”
The Guardians unfortunately lost the Yankees during Game 2 of the series. The teams will face off in two more games scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 17 and Friday, Oct. 18. Three more games are also possible in the series, which could take place on Saturday, Oct. 19, Monday, Oct. 21, and Tuesday, Oct. 22.
The team that wins the series will go on to play in the 2024 World Series against the New York Mets or the Los Angeles Dodgers.
