Two Georgia firefighters were found dead in their car in Tennessee on Sunday after going missing last week.
Hinesville Police in Georgia released a statement on Sunday, noting that Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander were found dead in Raegan’s car in Cocke County, Tennessee.
According to Chandler’s mom, who spoke with WJCL 22 last week, the two were high school sweethearts. They dated for several years before recently breaking up. Right before they went missing, however, Chandler told his mother that Raegan had been contacting him.
“He was telling me she was blowing up his phone, and he said that she had threatened that she was going to commit suicide,” Jane Kuhbander said. “And, it’s not the first time that she’s done it.”

Two days before her insistent messaging, on June 22, Raegan was arrested for keying Chandler’s vehicle after he went on a date with another woman, according to a Pooler Police Department.
Jane told WJCL 22 that Raegan posted bond for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. That Monday, June 24, she showed up at both her and Chandler’s gym (Crunch Fitness at the Oglethorpe Mall). Security footage showed her driving around the parking lot while he was inside working out.
“At 11:40 my son walks out of the building and he looks very comfortable, like he just had his workout,” said Jane. “He doesn’t look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. After that, we don’t see him again.”
His car was also left abandoned at the gym. On Sunday, he and Raegen were found dead in her car in Tennessee.
According to the Hinesville PD statement, “Details pertaining to the discovery of their bodies, vehicle and events leading to their deaths are not available at this time.” However, Tennessee authorities are reviewing the case.
“Questions should be directed to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations,” the statement read.
